A Balm for Hard Work & Long Roads

Black seed oil - called “the oil that cures everything but death” across ancient trade routes - was carried by healers, laborers, and caravan guards. After long rides, heavy lifting, and cold nights, muscles were rubbed with black seed and fat-based salves to bring heat, relief, and ease.

This balm honors that tradition. It softens stiffness in the body, comforts aching joints, and deeply nourishes the skin.
It is not sweet, not floral - it is strength in a jar, meant for those who carry weight in their muscles and courage in their bones.

Ingredients (makes 30 ml - one small jar)

Base Oils:

  • 10 ml Black Seed Oil (Nigella sativa)

  • 5 ml Sesame Oil (warming; supports circulation)
substitute: olive oil for gentler skin feel

Solidifier:

  • 5 gm Beeswax Pastilles
(raw chunk option - see note below)

Essential Oils:

  • 3 drops Ginger Essential Oil

  • 2 drops Black Pepper Essential Oil

  • 1 drop Myrrh Essential Oil (optional but strong)

Optional Old-World Addition (Black Tallow Method)

Used traditionally for stronger pain relief; optional for your customers

Add:

  • 3 gm grass-fed tallow (reduce beeswax to 3 gm)

Benefits of tallow in this balm:

  • Penetrates deeper into muscle tissues

  • Holds warmth longer

  • Softens skin after repeated use

  • Historically accurate for laborers and travelers

This variation is richer, stronger, and more traditional.

Method

  1. Combine base oils + beeswax (and tallow if using) in a heat-safe jar.

  2. Warm gently over simmering water until fully melted.

  3. Remove from heat.

  4. Add essential oils and stir with a wooden stick or spoon.

  5. Pour into a jar while still warm.

  6. Let cool completely before sealing.

Beeswax Note (Pellets vs. Raw Chunk)

  • Pellets: use 5 gm

  • Raw chunks: a walnut-size piece

  • With tallow, reduce to 3 gm beeswax for correct texture

How to Use

• Massage into sore muscles, stiff backs, necks, and hands.
• For menstrual cramps: apply on lower belly then cover with cloth warmth.
• For joint stiffness: rub then stretch gently after 3-5 minutes.
• Avoid face and sensitive areas due to spice oils.

⚠️ Safety Notes

• Not for infants or pregnancy use.
• Do not apply near eyes, broken skin, or mucous membranes.
• Patch test before heavy use.

Shelf Life

• 6-12 months
Keep sealed in a cool, dark place.
