The Resin & The Honey

In old trade villages, myrrh was not only burnt as incense - it was ground, warmed in oil, and pressed onto scarring from childbirth, rope burns, and long travel.
Honey, gathered from wild hives, was saved for more than tea - it sealed wounds, softened rough skin, and prevented cracking in harsh heat.

This formula joins their ancient uses:
Sesame Oil - a warming carrier that penetrates deeply,
Wild Honey - softens hardness and seals broken texture,
Myrrh Resin - strengthens weak skin, reduces tearing, and supports repair,
with a hint of Helichrysum - known historically as the “everlasting healer” for damaged skin.

Not for fragrance.
Not for beauty alone.
A slow repair, made patient.

Ingredients (30 ml)

Base Oils
• 12 ml Sesame Oil (cold-pressed; warm + penetrating)
• 10 ml Tamanu Oil (scarring + cell renewal)

Resin Infusion
• 6 ml Myrrh-Infused Oil
(method below - replaces 6 ml of sesame)

Softening Nectar
• 1.5 ml Raw Honey (dark, unheated)
(never use supermarket blended honey)

Repair Active
• 0.5 ml Helichrysum Italicum (high-grade essential oil; max 1.5% dilution)

Optional Balm-Style Feel
• 2-3 drops Honey Absolute (for aroma + extra softness)

⚠️ Do Not Increase Honey!
Too much causes separation or spoilage.

Myrrh Resin Infusion (Deep Skin Method)

Tools
• Heatproof glass beaker
• Small chunk of myrrh resin (pea size)
• Sesame oil
• Double boiler setup (pan + water)
• Muslin cloth

Method

  1. Crush the myrrh resin to small pieces.

  2. Add resin + 10 ml sesame oil to the beaker.

  3. Place beaker in a saucepan with 2-3 cm water (do not submerge).

  4. Warm at 55-65°C for 20-30 minutes - never let it boil.

  5. Remove, allow to cool slightly, then strain through muslin.

  6. Use 6 ml of this infused oil in your final recipe.

⚠️ Heat too high = bitterness + poor skin absorption.

How to Use

• Apply nightly to areas with scars, marks, or rough skin.
• Massage slowly using small circular motions.
• Warm palms before touching the skin - heat improves absorption.
• Pairs beautifully with gentle exfoliation once weekly (sugar + oil paste).

Avoid use on open wounds or fresh cuts.

Why It Works

• Myrrh strengthens damaged skin + reduces hard edges.
• Tamanu stimulates renewal + reduces pigmentation.
