I’ve always been a gypsy at heart.
Yes, I know it sounds cliché—but it’s true. Sometimes it’s made life harder, especially for those close to me. But I’ve grown to love this part of myself, and I’ve come to accept that it’s okay to live differently.
Long before I stepped foot in a Moroccan souk or wandered the backstreets of a French village, I was collecting pieces of the world—stones in my pockets, stories in my heart, and a hunger for something deeper than the ordinary.
Now, at 48, I’ve left Australia permanently. Not just geographically, but spiritually too. I live in France now—with a suitcase full of silver, stories, and spices… and a soul that finally feels seen.
This journal marks the beginning of a new chapter. A rebirth. Not just as a woman in midlife, but as a modern-day gypsy merchant—a wanderer with purpose, a trader of soul-rich treasures, and a seeker of the mystical woven into the everyday.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the old ways: to history, to ritual, to craft. I’ve always carried an image in my mind—of desert caravans moving under starlit skies, women trading silks and spices, silver and sacred things, setting up makeshift markets alive with scent and spirit. That image never left me. In some ways, I became it.
Morocco was the spark.
The rhythm of the souks, the scent of orange blossom and leather, the artisans working with their hands and hearts—it stirred something primal. Not just the desire to travel, but the call to trade. To carry magic home and share it with others. Treasures with stories. Rugs. Cushions. Poufs. Candles. Jewellery made of sterling silver and soul.
That’s how Caravansérai Gypsy came into being.
Not a brand, but a way of living—a gathering point for Moroccan homewares, mystical tools, and silver talismans. A space where beauty meets spirit.
This journal is my digital caravansérai. My spellbook.
Here, I’ll share what I find, what I feel, and where I go. From moon rituals to market mornings, from silver rings with stories to sacred home spaces—I’ll write it all.
I’m not here to be polished. I’m here to be real.
Real woman. Real stories. Real magic.
I’ve traded the safe and the expected for the sacred and the untamed.
And I hope you’ll walk beside me—through textures, talismans, twilight markets, and all the wildness still to come.
With spice, silver, and stories,
Tabitha
