STILL AIR CRAFT V

RAIN ON STONE

Release • Quiet Grief • Calm

────────── 𓆸 ──────────

Supports gentle emotional release and restores calm without forcing resolution.

INGREDIENTS

(Small batch - approx. 20 hand-rolled sticks)

Primary Materials
• Clean white wood ash (very fine) - 1½ tsp
• Makko powder - 2 tsp

Supporting Materials
• Powdered moss (fully dried, very fine) - ½ tsp
• Sandalwood powder - ¼ tsp

No aquatic accords.
No essential oils.

TOOLS REQUIRED

• Stone mortar and pestle
• Fine mesh sieve
• Ceramic or glass mixing bowl
• Measuring spoons
• Distilled water
• Wooden board or tray
• Baking paper or unbleached cloth
• Damp cloth
• Airtight storage container

PREPARATION

Refining the Mineral Base
Place ash and moss powder into the mortar.
Grind slowly until extremely fine and even.

Sift through a fine mesh sieve.
Return any coarse particles to the mortar and repeat.

Mineral incense must be smooth to burn quietly and evenly.

DRY BLENDING

Combine in a bowl:
• Ash
• Moss powder
• Sandalwood powder
• Makko powder

Mix thoroughly until uniform in colour and texture.

The blend should be pale grey-beige and soft to the touch.

ADDING WATER

Add distilled water very slowly, mixing gently.

This blend absorbs water more gradually than wood-based incense.

Aim for a dough that is:
• Soft
• Cohesive
• Slightly cool
• Never sticky

If the dough becomes too wet, allow it to rest uncovered briefly before shaping.

RESTING THE DOUGH

Cover with a damp cloth.
Rest for 15 minutes.

This stabilises the ash-heavy blend and ensures an even burn.

HAND-ROLLING

Pinch a small amount of dough.
Roll gently into thin ropes:

• 2-3 mm thick
• 8-10 cm long

Use slow, steady pressure.

Rain on Stone should feel grounded and quiet, not decorative.

If cracks appear, lightly dampen fingertips and smooth once.
Do not overwork.

DRYING

Place sticks on baking paper or cloth.

Dry in a shaded, still space:

• No sunlight
• No artificial heat

Drying time: 5-7 days.
Turn once daily.

Ash-heavy incense dries more slowly.

CURING

Once fully dry, store in an airtight container for approx. 4 weeks.

This allows mineral and wood notes to integrate fully.

HOW TO BURN

• Burn on a mica plate or ash bed
• Break into shorter pieces if desired
• Best burned during rain, after difficult days, or in silence

This incense does not ask for attention.

WHY THIS BELONGS IN STILL AIR

  • Emotional release without narrative

  • Mineral calm over sentiment

  • Space instead of catharsis

  • Quiet continuity
