The Grounded Traveller
Steadiness • Calm • Returning to the Body
Old-World Origin
Across the old caravan routes - from the lavender fields of Provence to the herbal terraces of the
Maghreb - travellers carried small pouches of calming herbs.
They were tucked beside bread, sewing needles, dried fruit, and water skins. Not luxury, but necessity.
This preparation honours those women healers who used
lavender, chamomile, and mint as the universal trio for steady breath and clear thought.
Ingredients (120 ml)
Herbs
✶ 1 tbsp dried chamomile
✶ 1 tbsp dried lavender
✶ 1 tbsp dried peppermint
✶½ tsp dried lemon balm
Alcohol Base
✶ 150 ml botanical gin (Citadelle or G’Vine Floraison recommended)
-or-
✶ 150 ml French eau-de-vie (delicate, historic, feminine)
Non-Alcoholic Base
✶ Raw apple cider vinegar (with the mother)
✶ ½ tsp honey (optional)
The Preparation
-
Lay all dried herbs into a clean glass jar.
-
Pour over the gin or eau-de-vie until the herbs are fully submerged.
-
Seal and wrap the jar in a soft cloth - the old caravans believed herbs steeped better when kept warm and hidden from chaos.
-
Leave in a cool, dark place for 28 days, shaking gently every 2-3 days.
-
Strain through muslin, bottle in amber glass, and label with your intention.

✶ Gin / Eau-de-vie - botanical purity & ancestral distillation traditions
Intention
"May my breath return to its rhythm, and my body return to itself."
Author’s Note
I created this tincture during a time when I needed calm to be simple again.
It became the first blend in my traveller’s apothecary.
