A Balm for the Belly That Carries Our Stories

The belly remembers what the mind forgets.
Stress, fear, longing, and chronic worry often live not in the heart, but in the gut.
Across old trading routes, healers massaged the abdomen with warming oils to soften internal tension. The goal was not only pain relief, but trust in the body again.

Ginger warms.
Mugwort helps the body let go of constriction.
Vanilla invites comfort and permission to rest.

This balm is made for belly breathing, scar healing, and coming back into the body with kindness - not force.

Ingredients (30 ml jar)

Base Oils:

  • 10 ml Sweet Almond Oil

  • 5 ml Castor Oil (deep abdominal softening; not for face)

Solidifier:

  • 5 gm Beeswax

Warming Aromatics:

  • 2 drops Ginger Essential Oil

  • 2 drops Roman Chamomile OR Cardamom (choose by intuition)

  • 1 drop Vanilla CO2 (or use vanilla-infused oil - see below)

Optional Deep-Healing Addition:

3 gm Grass-Fed Tallow (reduce beeswax to 3 gm)
Provides:

  •  Richer scar healing

  •  Deeper warmth retention

  •  Old-world body therapy

Method

  1. Combine oils + beeswax (and tallow, if using) over a double boiler.

  2. Melt gently - do not boil.

  3. Remove from heat.

  4. Add ginger + chamomile/cardamom + vanilla.

  5. Stir with a wooden stick.

  6. Pour into jar and allow to cool before sealing.

To make Vanilla-Infused Oil: soak a piece of vanilla bean in almond or jojoba for 1-2 weeks.

How to Use

• Warm a small amount between palms.
• Massage clockwise around the navel, slowly.
• Breathe into the belly:
In (4) - Hold (2) - Out (6).
• Apply to scars with gentle circular strokes only - never force pressure.
• Use during PMS, after emotional stress, or before sleep.

Not for pregnancy use (due to mugwort & ginger).

Optional Summer Variation (Ancient Coconut + Cardamom)

Do not rename the balm - this is simply a warm-season preparation.

Replace:

  • Sweet almond → Virgin Coconut Oil (12 ml)

  • Vanilla CO2 → Vanilla-Infused Coconut Oil

  • If desired: swap Roman Chamomile → Cardamom (sweet-spice aroma)

This version smells like warm skin, summer nights, and slow breath - not dessert, not perfume.

⚠️ Safety

• Not for pregnancy.
• Avoid internal use.
• Patch test if prone to allergies.
• Do not use near broken skin or mucous membranes.

Shelf Life

• 6-12 months
Keep cool, away from sunlight.
